June 1, 2006 15:28 - How To Stay Hydrated...

Make water taste good!

If your tap water tastes lousy, it will hardly be an incentive to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking water should be pleasant and refreshing, not an act of torture.

Some ideas for making your water taste good are:

  • Filter your tap water - Chlorinated water is good for the pool, not you!
  • Squeeze a slice of lemon or lime into every glass
  • Be creative and make iced herbal tea
  • Dilute some of your favorite fruit juices with water
  • If you're on the run and you feel thirsty, grab bottled water. Even the new lines of flavored water are better than diet soda.

By making your water taste great, you will find it that much easier to stay away from caffeinated and sugar laden carbonated drinks that keep you hooked, dehydrate you and make your body work harder at eliminating toxins and waste.

    April 17, 2006 20:27 - Water: It Does A Body Good.

Why all the fuss to drink eight, 8-ounce glasses a day? According to the Mayo Clinic, more than 60 percent of our body weight is water. This critical fluid helps our bodies regulate temperature, cushions joints and carries oxygen to our cells.

But dehydration is more common than most people realize. Do you ever feel less mentally alert for your morning meeting? Try drinking a glass of water. Even lacking just one percent of the water your body needs can cause fatigue, muscle weakness and dizziness.
